![]() I have a sweet tooth. A whole mouthful of 'em, in fact. When I was growing up, my mother tried to encourage healthful eating by saying that carrots would give me good vision (they didn't) and that protein was "brain food" (nope - not unless you're a zombie and brains are food). Imagine my delight when I discovered that glucose is the brain's main energy source. Unfortunately glucose comes from complex carbohydrates - things such as whole grains, legumes, and beans. It doesn't come from Reese's peanut butter cups, and I want a word with management. Scientists could solve the whole obesity thingie by figuring out how to make broccoli taste like chocolate cake. Seems like this would be a lot easier than trying to convince millions of people to do things they find unpleasant, such as dieting and exercising. We certainly have ample evidence that the latter approach doesn't work. Comments are closed.
