Heard the first seasonal cicadas of the year this morning.
Strolled past a local business this morning and sitting in the parking lot was royal purple rag top sports car, 1950s vintage and lovingly restored and maintained. I'm also 1950s vintage, my top is raggedy, and I'm in serious need of restoration and maintenance. Such a deal but for some reason people aren't lining up to get in on it. Now that my community has decided that we're not going into receivership after all and I can sell my condo without losing my shirt, I'm back to looking for my next place to live. I keep looking at a beat up Midcentury Modern house which has been on the market for months now, which isn't a good sign. The basement is grim. It's "is that structurally sound, is it leaking, is that mold I see, were they cooking meth down here, and is there a body buried in the floor" grim. And the bathroom has the requisite pink/peach tile on the wall. But if the house is structurally sound, and they didn't cook meth inside, I may buy it. You'll note that I'm not worried about the possibility of a body in the basement. There is already a cemetery across the street, I'd just have to re-locate my tenant. If I'd known a month ago how last week's community association election would turn out, I'd have bought a different house in the same area - but that ship unfortunately has sailed... Meanwhile Mother Nature has decided to give us actual summer weather for a few days and the wildfire smoke has gone elsewhere, so it's time to sit by the pool with a cold beverage in hand.
