Hazy sunshine, temps in the upper 70s, storms a-brewin' with the usual hail and damaging winds. I LOVE this kind of weather. Could be a 10 degrees warmer and more humid, though. One of these days I'll be able to put away the fleece sheets for the season, but for now I'm grateful that we're having normal May weather. The lilacs are still blooming and the air smells heavenly. And the birdies are going about their business, reproducing and making a big production of it. We should be hearing from some little ones later this month - the older they get, the more demanding they are. Yesterday I walked through a nearby community and spotted a blue heron on each of the three lakes they have. I was even able to get somewhat close to them. They're usually a bit skittish, but not these guys. One flew right past me on the way to the other close-by lake. Not sure if these birds were mates or not. I wouldn't have expected them to tolerate an interloper if they'd had eggs nearby, but maybe these were the bachelors who were hanging out together. And there was a snapping turtle because any lake worth its name needs a turtle. Didn't spot any vultures and was very disappointed. Am enjoying the last peace and quiet before area schools let out for the summer. At least we'll be able to drive around here in the mornings. There are five or six schools within a few miles of my home, and you may as well forget about getting anywhere fast when the streets are clogged with buses. I try to remember than I was once young and my little butt was on a bus getting in other people's way. Good times.... Comments are closed.
